Pope Benedict famously said that the “only really effective apologia for Christianity comes down to two arguments, namely the saints the Church has produced and the art which has grown in her womb.” By this, Pope Benedict did not mean to discredit reason but to say that the luminous nature of holiness and beauty is what draws people to Christ and his Church. Dr. Larry Chapp, a prominent theologian, writer, and podcaster, will join us to unpack these themes. In this wide-ranging conversation, Dr. Chapp will discuss the necessary role that art and beauty play in our lives and the liturgy, how beauty fosters and sustains faith and evangelizes others, practical advice about evangelization, contemporary challenges to the faith, and more.
This event is cosponsored by the Saint Benedict Institute and Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish, Muskegon.
